PHOTO NEWS: Lagos Task Force Crushes 2,228 Motorcycles

On Friday 03 June 2022, the Lagos State Task force crushed another set of 2,228 impounded commercial motorcycles popularly called “Okada“, that were seized in areas where their operations have been proscribed.

The Okadas were impounded after Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu banned their operations in 6 Local Government Areas and 9 Local Council Development Areas of the State.

The State Government began enforcement of the total ban on the activities of okada in the affected areas on Wednesday 01 June 2022.

Chairman of the task force, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Shola Jejeloye, had earlier announced on Thursday 02 June 2022 that the agency will ensure all impounded motorcycles are crushed, sequel to due process.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in company of his Transportation counterpart, Mr. Frederick Oladeinde and the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, Shola Jejeloye, explained that over 5,000 okadas seized in the first quarter of this year, had earlier been crushed.
